The 7stanes is a brand used to describe a series of purpose built mountain biking centres based across the south of Scotland on Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS) land. The development of the 400km of trails first started in 2001 and they continue to be maintained and refreshed by FCS. The trails are designed for all levels of expertise, from green trails for beginners to black trails for expert riders catering for both cross country and downhill. The 7stanes is one of the south of Scotland’s largest tourist attractions and the largest mountain biking destination in the UK.

The 7stanes Mountain Biking Community Interest Company (CIC) is a not for profit organisation which was set up in October 2010. Its primary aim is to promote and market the internationally acclaimed 7stanes mountain bike trails which are situated across the south of Scotland and currently attract over 400,000 visitors annually. This pioneering company will increase visitor numbers and generate income to make the project self-funding and help benefit businesses and the Scottish economy.
The success of the 7stanes CIC is dependent on support from Scottish mountain bikers and businesses that benefit from the sport. Endura is a sponsor to the CIC and its range of customised 7stanes clothing is subsidised to benefit CIC in order to help and support the good work that the organisation does for the mountain biking community on Scotland.
The CIC includes representation from Scottish Enterprise, Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS), Scottish Borders Council, Dumfries & Galloway Council, Visit Scotland, Scottish Cycling, the Tweed Valley Tourism Consortium, the Newcastleton Business Forum and the Dumfries & Galloway Mountain Biking Business Network.
